THE DAY THE EARTH SMILED Website dedicated to the Day the Earth Smiled worldwide celebration of humanity's place in the cosmos. On July 19, 2013 the Cassini spacecraft turned its cameras sunward to image Saturn, its rings and the Earth. This long-distance snapshot of the Pale Blue Dot was the first such photo ever taken with the full advance knowledge of members of the public, who were invited to take part in a day of reflection and celebration.
